Robert leads our mining and energy practice in Perth.
Robert has specific expertise in all aspects of project development in the mining and energy sectors, including obtaining all relevant permits to operate, land access, environmental approvals, competition and third party access issues, preparation of construction contracts, off take contracts, preparation of all infrastructure contracts and dealing with operational issues.
Robert acts for clients in dispute resolution arising out of all aspects of project development including mediation, expert determination, arbitration and litigation in the Supreme, Federal and High Courts of Australia.
Robert was awarded a Masters Degree in International Commercial Law from the University of London in 1993. Robert worked for a large English firm with offices in Europe, Russia and the Far East specialising in cross border transactions, with emphasis on project development in the oil and gas industry and infrastructure development. After returning to Australia, Robert continued to practice in the field of project development in the mining and energy sectors.
Robert is currently the Chairman of the Western Australian Energy Review Board, dealing with several appeals arising from the access arrangement covering the Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline determined by the Western Australian Economic Regulation Authority.
Robert also sits on the Board of Fremantle Ports, the statutory corporation that has responsibility for operation of Western Australia's main container terminal and a large bulk cargo operation.
